The Ignorance Of This Generation

The Hidden Spiritual Roots of Yoga

Yoga means “to be yoked with” or “united with.” Ancient Hindu texts, the Vedas, teach that yoga unites a person with universal consciousness—merging one’s soul with the divine. The sages who created these poses did not follow God’s Spirit. Instead, demonic spirits influenced them to promote a spiritual discipline that denies salvation through Christ Jesus.

Many people practice yoga for stretching or relaxation. These benefits are fine by themselves, but seeking them under yoga’s spiritual covering makes the practice dangerous. When you practice yoga, you break God’s commandments (Exodus 20) and open the door to demonic oppression.

The Dangers of Spiritual Compromise

When someone practices yoga, they unknowingly open themselves to demonic influence. Certain types of yoga, such as Bhakti yoga, require chanting to Hindu gods and goddesses—this is idolatry and sin in God’s eyes.

Another form, Kundalini yoga, involves calling on an “energy” that coils at the base of the spine. It promises enlightenment and harmony between chakras. But this “energy” is not holy—it is a demonic spirit. People who practice Kundalini yoga often require deliverance in Christ Jesus’ name (Philippians 2:10) from snake spirits they have invited in.

No wonder so many lives are in spiritual bondage while practicing yoga.

Test Every Spirit

Beloved, do not believe every spirit. Test the spirits to see if they are from God (1 John 4:1). Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

Where in the Scriptures does yoga worship God in spirit and truth? (John 4:24). The Apostle Paul feared that, as the serpent deceived Eve, our minds would be led astray from pure devotion to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Leviticus 19:31 warns us not to turn to mediums or familiar spirits. We must obey Christ, not call Him “Lord, Lord” while ignoring His commands (Luke 6:46).

Choose Godly Practices

There are many ways to improve physical and mental health without opening spiritual doors to darkness—such as stretching, jogging, or running. These exercises have no link to occult practices.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 warns, “The time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching… they will turn away from the truth and wander into myths.”

That time is now. Let’s stand firm in the truth.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me according to Your steadfast love. According to Your abundant mercy, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin in Christ Jesus’ name (Psalm 51:1-2).

Amen.
