The Healing on Shabbat by Yahusha of Natzeret (Jesus Christ of Nazareth)
In John 5, Yahusha heals a man who had been invalid for thirty-eight years at the pool of Bethzatha. The pool, near the sheep gate, had five porches filled with the sick, blind, and disabled—each waiting for healing.
Seeing this man and knowing his long condition, Yahusha asked, “Do you want to get well?”
The man explained his struggles—each time the water stirred, someone else stepped in before him. As a result, he remained stuck. Yahusha then said, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk!” Immediately, the man was healed.
Therefore, this story reminds us that many of us are spiritually stuck, too. Even so, Yahusha stands near, asking the same question: “Do you want to get well?”
Spiritual Positioning in Times of Battle
In the military, positioning is crucial. Similarly, spiritual warfare requires preparation.
For example, 1 Thessalonians 5:6 urges, “Let us not sleep as others do, but remain alert and sober-minded.” The enemy attacks in darkness. That’s why early-morning prayer, as Yahusha demonstrated in Mark 1:35, gives us an advantage.
Furthermore, Ephesians 6:18 advises us to “Pray in the Spirit on every occasion…” Prayer aligns us with God’s power and places us where His glory is revealed.
Surround Yourself with the Right People
Just as soldiers need strong teammates, believers need godly support. In fact, Yahusha carefully chose His disciples in Matthew 10:1–4.
When raising Jairus’ daughter (Luke 8:49–56), He allowed only Peter, James, John, and the child’s parents into the room. He did this to avoid opposition and doubt.
Consequently, we must guard our inner circle. Proverbs 18:21 warns, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.”
Relying on God, Not People
The man at the pool complained he had no one to help him. However, Isaiah 2:22 tells us, “Stop trusting in mankind.”
Instead, Jeremiah 17:5–6 warns of the dangers of relying on flesh. Trust in ADONAI Elohim is the only true safety.
Moreover, Matthew 18:20 promises, “Where two or three are gathered… there I am.” Fellowship with true believers matters.
Humility and Readiness in Spiritual Warfare
Pride exposes you spiritually. Accordingly, Proverbs 11:2 says, “When pride comes, then comes disgrace.”
Rather than constantly speaking of your problems, cast your cares on Yahusha (1 Peter 5:7). In addition, praise and worship invite God’s presence (Psalm 22).
Position Yourself in Obedience and Forgiveness
Obedience to God’s Word is spiritual armor. As John 15:10 teaches, those who keep His commandments abide in His love.
Likewise, repentance and forgiveness allow the Holy Spirit to stay close. Mark 11:25 reminds us to forgive, so God will forgive us.
Because God is a God of now, you must turn from sin today and live by His Word (Luke 10:27).
Prayer
Lord Almighty God, give me the grace to follow Your commands. Position me for Your power and glory in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
